How do the free credits work?

New accounts get $1.50 to start, and 10 free credits (10¢) a day on accounts without a plan, once the email is confirmed (the daily ones expire at midnight UTC). A limited number are given out each day; 1 credit = 1¢. Accounts on a plan get their monthly credits instead of the daily ones.

Do I need a plan?

No. Accounts without a plan get 10 free credits (10¢) a day once the email is confirmed (a limited number each day), and you can top up any amount from $5 to $500 (top-ups never expire). A plan gives you credits every month — Pro and Creator give more credits than they cost. Plan credits expire at the end of each month.

What's the difference between BYOK and Credits?

BYOK means you paste your own provider key; Varosity forwards your calls and the provider invoices you. Credits means Varosity holds the keys and bills you directly — no separate provider accounts. Either way you pay the provider's list price.

How are prices worked out?

Each model costs the list price of the provider we run it on (fal, Replicate, Google, OpenAI and others), with nothing added — except where noted below. Video is charged per second actually produced, rounded to the nearest cent. Images and audio are rounded up to the next whole cent, with a 1¢ minimum, so a sub-cent image costs 1¢. On Credits you always get the tier you pay for: audio stays on for Kling and Veo, Seedance renders at 1080p, Grok Imagine Video and Wan Animate at 720p. OpenAI bills its image models by tokens, so each OpenAI image is charged what OpenAI billed for it, from the token counts it reports, and never more than the price shown before you generate (8¢ at medium quality). The exceptions: fal bills Wan Animate by frames, so its fixed $0.16 per second matches fal for a 32 fps driving video. MuAPI publishes no price for its Wan effects model, so its $0.06 per second can't be checked against a list. And pay-per-call (POST /api/v1/pay/generate, for agents paying per job instead of holding credits) charges at least $0.50 per job, so a cheap image costs $0.50 that way — credits don't have this minimum.

Are failures billed?

Never. If a generation returns an error — provider timeout, content policy rejection, anything — the call is not billed. Only confirmed successes debit your balance or provider account.

How do I cancel or change plans?

Cancel any time from the billing page in your account; your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for. Moving up to a bigger plan (or from monthly to yearly) starts it immediately: you are charged its full price that day, your unused plan credits carry over, and the rest of the old period is not refunded. To move down, cancel and subscribe again at the end of the period.

Can I mix BYOK and Credits?

Yes. Set it per provider under Providers & billing (/app/keys). Use your fal.ai key for Kling, run Veo on Credits. Switch at any time — the next call picks up the new preference immediately, whether it comes from the app, the API or your agent over MCP.
