GPT Image 2.5 and Grok Imagine Image 2.0 on Varosity: prices, tiers and tests

· Varosity

OpenAI GPT Image 2.5 (Flare, Sunburst) from 1¢ per image and xAI Grok Imagine Image 2.0 at 8¢ for 2K, at provider list price — tested live.

As of October 27, 2026, two new image families are on Varosity: OpenAI's GPT Image 2.5 (in two tiers, Flare and Sunburst) and xAI's Grok Imagine Image 2.0. Both are billed at the provider's list price with no markup, on Varosity credits (1 credit = 1¢; images are charged in whole cents). We rendered both live on Varosity before listing them; the prices, sizes and timings below are from those runs.

GPT Image 2.5: five quality tiers from 1¢

GPT Image 2.5 lets you trade quality for price per image: low 1¢, medium 3¢ (the default), high 9¢, xhigh 16¢ and max 36¢. An edit with one reference image adds 1.5¢ at the provider, so a medium edit is 4¢. Flare and Sunburst cost the same; set the tier with providerOptions.quality. Output is 1K through Varosity. In our tests both tiers set short in-image text legibly, and a medium edit from a reference came back at 4¢.

Grok Imagine Image 2.0: 2K photoreal with readable text

Grok Imagine Image 2.0 renders at 2K. Our 16:9 test came back at 2816×1584, a product shot of a coffee mug beside a chalkboard sign, with "OPEN" spelled correctly. Asked to make the mug cobalt blue, the edit changed only the mug and kept the sign, the light and the counter. It offers 1:1, 16:9 and 9:16; other shapes are refused before anything is charged.

It is not instant: the new image took about 80 seconds and the edit about 40 seconds. Keep the request open rather than retrying (with an Idempotency-Key, a retry while the first is still running is answered, not charged twice).

Try them

From an agent connected over MCP (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, Claude Code and others — setup), just ask:

Use Varosity to make a 16:9 Grok Imagine Image 2.0 product photo of a ceramic mug on a sunlit counter with a chalkboard sign that reads "OPEN".

Or call the API directly:

curl -X POST https://varosity.ai/api/v1/images \
